Arsene Wenger keen to improve with core of current players

Arsene Wenger admits that he is eager to keep a core of players at Arsenal for an extended period as he bids for success.

Arsene Wenger has claimed that keeping a core of players at Arsenal for the next few years will be key to the club's chances of success.

The Gunners have already been linked with summer moves for the likes of Raheem Sterling and Petr Cech, but Wenger believes that the club need to focus on improving with the majority of the current players in the squad, despite falling short in the title race once again.

"I know our future is only bright if I can keep a cohesion, and a core of players who have been educated here and can play year-in year-out together," the Arsenal boss told reporters.

"That is the difficulty in the modern job, you know the cohesion is a very important part of the success of the team, but you are always under pressure to get in [players]. We live in a new world, people always want new."

Arsenal meet Sunderland in their penultimate Premier League fixture of the season on Wednesday.
