Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger: 'Defeat to Liverpool was an accident'

Arsene Wenger describes Arsenal's heavy 5-1 defeat to Liverpool last Saturday as an "accident".

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has described his side's heavy defeat to Liverpool as an "accident".

The Gunners relinquished their place at the top of the Premier League table after losing 5-1 at Anfield last Saturday.

"I think the Liverpool game was an accident and we want to treat it like that," Arsenal's official Twitter page quotes Wenger as saying.

"We tend to forget how good we are when you are not successful. We have worked very hard until now. These players deserve success."

The Frenchman hopes that Arsenal can recover from their blip when they take on Manchester United at the Emirates Stadium tomorrow.
