Arsenal close to signing Mohamed Elneny?

Arsenal are reportedly close to securing the signature of Egyptian midfielder Mohamed Elneny after agreeing a fee with Basel.

Arsenal are reportedly closing in on the signing of Basel midfielder Mohamed Elneny.

The Gunners are said to have agreed a fee in the region of £5m for the 23-year-old Egyptian and are looking to seal the deal after personal terms are agreed and a medical undertaken, according to The Mirror.

Arsene Wenger is looking for a signing to bolster his injury-ravaged midfield, with Santi Cazorla, Francis Coquelin, Jack Wilshere, Mikel Arteta and Tomas Rosicky currently on the treatment table.

The 39-capped Egyptian joined Swiss outfit Basel in 2013, and has since scored five goals in 91 appearances.

Arsenal are looking to move to the top of the Premier League table this evening with a Boxing Day win away to Southampton.
