Arsenal are reportedly still looking to sign Jean-Philippe Gbamin, despite Mainz 05's reluctance to sell the versatile ace.
The German club's sporting director Rouven Schroeder recently revealed that an "extraordinary offer" has already been tabled for Gbamin, which was soon rejected.
Schroeder then made clear that the 22-year-old, comfortable playing at centre-back or in central midfield, will remain at the Opel Arena this coming season.
According to reports in France, however, cited by talkSPORT, Arsenal are continuing to monitor the situation and could yet make a bid of their own.
Gbamin joined Mainz from Lens in 2016 and has gone on to make 53 Bundesliga appearances for the club.
