Arsenal plot Fabian Schar move?

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger reportedly plots to sign Swiss defensive starlet Fabian Schar in the January transfer window.

Arsenal have reportedly added Basel defender Fabian Schar to an early list of transfer targets for the January transfer window.

Schar has impressed Gunners scouts during the last 12 months, becoming a regular for Basel while also breaking into the Swiss national side.

Gunners boss Arsene Wenger wants to add central defensive cover in the long-term and believes that Schar can fit the bill, according to The Metro.

Wenger has three central defenders at his disposal at the moment, with Bacary Sagna used as a short-term fix when Per Mertesacker or Laurent Koscielny have been out so far this season.

Schar has helped Basel become a regular in European competitions in recent times, with last season's run to the Europa League semi-finals followed up by a 2-1 win over Chelsea in the Champions League last week.

The 21-year-old also has a notable scoring record for a defender and has found the net five times in 10 games for club and country already this season.
