Arsenal to complete Jamie Vardy deal within 24 hours?

Jamie Vardy's potential move to Arsenal could be completed in the next 24 hours after talks reportedly advance at "an accelerated rate".

Jamie Vardy could reportedly become an Arsenal player within the next 24 hours as the Gunners look to hurry through a deal for the Leicester City frontman.

Last night it emerged that Arsene Wenger's side had started negotiations with the 29-year-old after triggering the £20m release clause in his contract.

According to the Daily Mail, talks have progressed at "an accelerated pace" with "only formalities" now left to conclude.

Vardy is due to travel with the England squad to France for Euro 2016 on Monday, and manager Roy Hodgson has already ruled out any of his players engaging in transfer talks or undergoing medicals during the tournament.

The Foxes are thought to be desperate to keep Vardy, who was instrumental in powering them to an unlikely title success in 2015-16, but the release clause in his contract means that he is free to leave for any club competing in the Champions League.

Liverpool were also interested in his services but fell foul of the European condition, while Manchester United are thought to have passed on the opportunity to sign him regardless.

Vardy's proposed contract with Arsenal is for a four-year term and is worth £120,000 a week, around double his current salary with Leicester.
