Barcelona loanee Denis Suarez hints at permanent Arsenal stay

Denis Suarez says that he wants to become "an important player" under Unai Emery as he drops a hint that he is at Arsenal to stay for the long term.

Barcelona loanee Denis Suarez has hinted that he is at Arsenal to stay as he wants to become an "important player" under Unai Emery.

The 25-year-old was granted a loan exit from Barca in January after slipping down the pecking order at Camp Nou.

Suarez has had to be eased in by Emery since arriving last month, however, featuring just four times from the bench so far, totalling a little over an hour on the field.

Arsenal reportedly have the option to sign Suarez on a permanent basis in the summer for £17m, and the former Manchester City youth product seems to want to stay on and make a name for himself under a manager he previously worked with at Sevilla.

"My aim is to be a success here, perform well and feel important," he told the Arsenal's YouTube channel. "I'd like to become an important player at the club.

"I joined Arsenal to get a lot of playing time, to be an important player and feel important. I'm determined to perform well and be a success at this great club.

"I think Unai made me a football player, when I joined Sevilla I was a prospect. I was coming off the back of a great season in the second division with Barca B. But it was a big step up to the elite level. He really helped me."

Suarez may be handed his first start on Wednesday evening when Arsenal welcome Bournemouth to the Emirates Stadium.
