Raul Meireles urges Luis Suarez to stay at Liverpool

Fenerbahce midfielder Raul Meireles urges former Liverpool teammate Luis Suarez to stay with the Reds, despite interest from Arsenal.

Fenerbahce midfielder Raul Meireles believes that Luis Suarez should not move to Arsenal this summer.

The Gunners have had two bids rejected for the Uruguayan after the striker gave numerous interviews claiming that he wants to leave Liverpool.

"My advice to Luis would be that he shouldn't leave Liverpool for Arsenal," The Mirror quotes Meireles as saying. "I know he wants to play in the Champions League and if it was Real Madrid or Bayern Munich who came for him then I could understand him wanting to leave.

"In reality, though, Arsenal are not going to win the Champions League or the Premier League so it makes no sense for him.

"My advice would be to have another season at Liverpool and wait for one of the top five clubs in Europe to approach him – because he is good enough for that, for sure."

Meireles played for Liverpool between 2010 and 2012 before he was sold to Chelsea.
