Arsenal skipper Robin van Persie could still reportedly sign a new contract with the club.

Robin van Persie could still reportedly sign a new contract with Arsenal.

The skipper announced last week that he had no intention of extending his current deal with the Gunners, which has just 12 months left to run.

However, the Dutch striker will hold talks with the club's board next week, where fresh terms will be discussed, according to Sky Sports News.

Should Van Persie agree to commit his future to Arsenal, it will mirror the situation in which Wayne Rooney found himself at Manchester United back in 2010.
