Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger still believes that he can persuade star striker Robin van Persie to stay at the club.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has not given hope up that Robin van Persie will sign a new contract with the club, according to reports.

The Daily Star believes that Van Persie has been impressed with the progress Arsenal have made in the transfer market in the past few days.

Santi Cazorla has completed a move to the Gunners, with Real Madrid midfielder Nuri Sahin understood to be next on Wenger's list of targets.

Van Persie will join the Arsenal squad on a training camp to Germany ahead of a pre-season friendly against FC Cologne on Sunday, August 12.

The 28-year-old has been consistently linked with a move in the one of the transfer stories of the summer, with Manchester City, Manchester United and Juventus all rumoured to have bid for the Dutch striker.
