Ashley Williams hints at Swansea City stay

Ashley Williams moves to reassure Swansea City supporters over his future in South Wales beyond the summer.

Ashley Williams has moved to reassure Swansea City supporters over his future in South Wales beyond the summer by hinting at a contract extension.

With the Swans captain having just one year to run on his existing deal at the Liberty Stadium, speculation has mounted recently that the 29-year-old could look to quit the club.

Napoli and Arsenal are among those to have been linked with the Wales stalwart in the past, but Williams has intimated that the wheels over prolonging his six-year stint with City are firmly in motion.

"I have another year left on my contract and I have never had a dispute with the chairman yet, so we are relaxed about that and it's nothing to be worried about," he told Sky Sports News following the 4-1 win over Aston Villa on Saturday.

The centre-back has skippered the club to 10 Premier League victories so far this season, scoring once in the process.
