Report: Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere not included in England World Cup squad

Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere reportedly misses out on a place in England's 23-man squad for the World Cup in Russia this summer.

Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere has reportedly failed to make Gareth Southgate's England squad for the World Cup.

The 26-year-old, who has suffered from numerous injuries in recent years, had hoped to travel to Russia after forcing his way back into contention over the past few months.

However, Wilshere has started just 12 Premier League games this season and was not named in Arsenal's starting XI for the last two games of the campaign.

According to The Sun, Southgate informed the former Bournemouth loanee of his decision in a phone call on Tuesday, handing the player the same fate as Joe Hart.

Wilshere has not played a single minute under Southgate since the former Middlesbrough boss took charge on the Three Lions - initially on an interim basis - in September 2016.
