Claudio Ranieri plays down AS Monaco threat to Paris Saint-Germain

Claudio Ranieri says that AS Monaco will not be able to keep up with Paris Saint-Germain and challenge for the Ligue 1 title this season.

Claudio Ranieri is refusing to be drawn on AS Monaco's chances of challenging Paris Saint-Germain for the Ligue 1 title this season.

The principality club breezed to a 3-0 win at Nice on Tuesday night to move within two points of leaders PSG, although Ranieri feels that Monaco are a long way off matching up to the French champions.

"I think it is very difficult to put any pressure on PSG at the top. They are a team which is capable of winning the Champions League," Ranieri told the press.

"For Monaco it is our first year back in Ligue 1 and it is important to continue at this level.

"We are only looking at ourselves and our results, not looking at the other teams."

Monaco are third in the table, a point behind second-placed Lille, with both sides having played a game more than PSG.
