Aymen Abdennour pens AS Monaco contract extension

Tunisian international centre-back Aymen Abdennour agrees a one-year contract extension at Monaco, despite being linked with a move to Tottenham Hotspur.

AS Monaco's Tunisian international defender Aymen Abdennour has agreed a one-year contract extension with the Ligue 1 club, despite recent speculation linking him with a move to the Premier League.

The 25-year-old had been rumoured to be attracting interest from Tottenham Hotspur, but will now remain at Stade Louis II until June 2019.

"Aymen is an essential member of the squad and we are delighted to see him commit to the club for another season," Vadim Vasilyev, vice-president and chief executive of Monaco, told the club's official website.

"We are working to consolidate the team for the future and Aymen's contract extension is part of that project."

Abdennour, who joined Monaco from Toulouse last summer, has represented Tunisia on 33 occasions.
