Darren Bent: 'I can form a partnership with Christian Benteke'

Aston Villa striker Darren Bent believes that he and his teammate Christian Benteke, who is currently pushing Bent out of the side, can play together.

Aston Villa striker Darren Bent believes that he is capable of forming a strong partnership with teammate Christian Benteke.

The 21-year-old summer signing has been favoured by manager Paul Lambert this season, which has resulted in Bent being dropped to the bench on numerous occasions.

"He's a big target man," the Birmingham Mail quotes Bent as saying. "I haven't played with a target man for some time now. The last one was probably Emile Heskey. I can feed off him, so I don't see any reason why we can't play together."

Villa currently sit just two points away from the relegation zone in the Premier League table.
