Aston Villa's Nathan Delfouneso will replace Wigan Athletic winger Callum McManaman for England's European Under-21 Championship campaign.

Aston Villa's Nathan Delfouneso has been called into the England Under-21 squad following the injury blow to Callum McManaman.

The FA Cup-winning winger was forced to pull out of the squad for the European Under-21 Championships after he was ruled out for three months with an ankle injury.

"Nathan was very unfortunate not to make the squad in the first place," England U21 manager Stuart Pearce told FA.com. "He has contributed a great deal to the Under-21s in qualification and he was unlucky that Callum McManaman's form was such that he had forced his way into the reckoning late on."

Delfouneso, who has netted four goals in 16 appearances for the Young Lions, has spent the season on loan at Championship outfit Blackpool.
