Aston Villa manager Paul Lambert has hit back at Robbie Savage's prediction that the club will be relegated this season.

Former Birmingham City midfielder Savage recently claimed that Villa would suffer if they continue with their form from the last campaign.

"I think it is strange for someone to say that when they haven't really seen them," Lambert told The Mirror. "If you are going to make a comment, I think you are better seeing the lads play first.

"I have seen them, which is the most important thing. I know what they can do. Wait and see."

Villa kick off the new season with a trip to West Ham United on Saturday.
