Aston Villa's Micah Richards: 'We let 2-0 lead slip because of complacency'

Aston Villa captain Micah Richards says that his team let their two-goal lead slip against Leicester City because of complacency.

Aston Villa captain Micah Richards has blamed complacency for his side's defeat to Leicester City on Sunday.

The visitors to the King Power Stadium took a 2-0 lead with goals from Jack Grealish and Carles Gil.

However, it was Leicester who eventually claimed all three points as Ritchie De Laet, Jamie Vardy and Nathan Dyer struck in the final 20 minutes.

"When it went to 2-0 there was a part where, I don't know how many passes we strung together, but the crowd was waning and we got a little bit complacent," Richards told Sky Sports News.

"I think their first goal killed us really. We let them back into the game and after that the momentum was with them - we couldn't get back into it."

Villa have recorded three defeats, one draw and one victory so far this season.
