Senior Aston Villa players reportedly expect head coach Remi Garde to leave the club before the end of the season.
The Frenchman was a surprise managerial appointment at Villa Park, stepping into the position left by Tim Sherwood last November.
The former Lyon boss signed a three-and-a-half-year deal upon his arrival, but he has struggled to change Villa's fortunes.
There are still 10 games of the season remaining, but Villa are rooted to the bottom of the Premier League table, some eight points from safety having only won three of their 28 fixtures this term.
According to The Mirror, Villa players do not anticipate the 49-year-old being in charge for the start of the 2016-17 season, with Garde expected to walk away from the role if he is not relieved of his duties.
Villa's 3-1 home defeat to Everton on Tuesday night was their 18th league reverse of the season.
