Aston Villa manager Steve Bruce has acknowledged that goalkeeper Jed Steer is moving to Charlton Athletic on loan.
Steer has spent the last five years with the West Midlands outfit, but the 25-year-old has made just nine first-team appearances in all competitions.
The most recent outing came in Villa's 3-1 win over Hull City on Monday night, but the signings of Orjan Nyland and Andre Moreira have resulted in Steer being demoted to third choice.
At a press conference, Bruce told reporters: "Jed has gone out on loan this morning. We wish him the best of luck. He's been frustrated with the injuries and we hope it works out for him. The second day I came here he ruptured his Achilles, last year he dislocated his shoulder."
Steer has previously spent loan spells at Doncaster Rovers, Yeovil Town and Huddersfield Town during his time at Villa.
