Darren Bent vows to stay at Aston Villa despite high-profile departures at Villa Park.

Darren Bent has vowed not to be the next high-profile player to leave Aston Villa.

England wingers Ashley Young and Stewart Downing have left Villa Park to join Manchester United and Liverpool respectively.

Bent said: "Obviously what Stewy and Ash did was for their careers - Manchester United and Liverpool are two of the biggest clubs in the world, so they've got their reasons for doing it.

"But me, I'm more than happy to be here and play for Aston Villa. It's a terrific football club."

Bent moved to Villa for £24m in January and scored nine goals in 16 games to help steer the Midlands club away from relegation.
