Alex McLeish admits he would like to sign Robbie Keane on a permanent basis for Aston Villa if the opportunity became available.

Aston Villa manager Alex McLeish has revealed that he would be interested in signing Robbie Keane on a permanent basis.

Keane scored two goals in the 3-2 win against Wolves on Saturday, following his short-term loan deal from LA Galaxy.

The former Birmingham City manager admitted that if Keane became available on a permanent basis, he would be interested in signing him.

"If he feels he wants to come back to the Premier League, I'm sure there would be some welcoming arms," said McLeish.

"I would like to think we'd be interested. We brought him in. He's paid his dues with that magnificent performance [yesterday]."

Aston Villa are currently 11th in the Premier League table.
