A late goal from Oscar de Marcos was enough for Athletic Bilbao to claim all three points away at Sevilla.

Sevilla missed the chance to close the gap on those in a Champions League place by slipping to a 2-1 home defeat to Athletic Bilbao this evening.

Visiting Bilbao took the lead in the 6th minute courtesy of Andoni Iraola, who shot past Javis Varas in goal from the edge of the penalty area.

The home side were only behind for nine minutes though, with winger Jesus Navas collecting possession from Freddie Kanoute before shooting low into the net.

Both sides created chances to take the lead, but it took until the 71st minute for the winning goal to come.

Oscar de Marcos was the scorer, finding the net at the second attempt following an initial save from Javi Varas.

The victory was Bilbao's second away from home this season.
