Lionel Messi becomes the second-highest goalscorer in the Champions League with his first strike against AC Milan tonight.

Lionel Messi has become the second-highest goalscorer in Champions League history with his first strike against AC Milan on Tuesday.

The Barcelona forward scored after just five minutes at Camp Nou to take his tally to 57 goals in the competition, one more than former Manchester United and Real Madrid forward Ruud van Nistelrooy.

Messi added a second five minutes from half time to level the last-16 tie 2-2.

Raul is the current all-time top scorer in the Champions League with 71 goals.
