Barcelona have been held at bay in the first half of their Copa del Rey clash against Villanovense with the score at 0-0 at the break.

The home side threatened in the early stages of the match when Pablo Moraga was allowed to raid forward into the final third, but he sent his strike wide of the post.

Barcelona responded to the chance by carving out an opportunity as they worked the ball through the midfield before Gerard Gumbau fired a shot just past the woodwork from 25 yards.

Villanovense almost found a way through for the opening goal when Elias weaved his way past a couple of challenges, but his low strike was saved by Jordi Masip.

Luis Enrique's side rallied and almost found the net as Marc Bartra rose highest in the box to head Douglas's corner at goal, but he sent his effort over the bar.
