Ronald Koeman 'favourite to be new Barcelona boss'

Ronald Koeman - currently in charge of the Netherlands - is the favourite to replace Quique Setien as Barcelona boss, according to a report.

Ronald Koeman is reportedly 'the frontrunner' to replace Quique Setien as Barcelona boss.

The Spanish giants have allegedly already decided to sack Setien, although an official announcement is not expected to be made until the start of next week.

A number of names have been linked with the position since Barca suffered an 8-2 defeat to Bayern Munich in the quarter-finals of the Champions League on Friday night.

According to Sky Sports News, Koeman is the favourite to take on the role, although the Catalan outfit would need to pay compensation to the Netherlands in order to release the 57-year-old from his contract with the national team.

The Dutchman turned out for Barca as a player between 1989 and 1995, winning four La Liga titles and the European Cup during his time at Camp Nou.

Koeman has been in charge of the Netherlands since February 2018, while he has also recently been the head coach of Feyenoord, Southampton and Everton at club level.
