Barcelona official watches Lyon's Samuel Umtiti?

Barcelona reportedly enter the running to sign supposed Newcastle United transfer target Samuel Umtiti from Lyon.

Barcelona's technical director Robert Fernandez reportedly visited France last weekend to watch Lyon defender Samuel Umtiti in action.

The 22-year-old Frenchman, who is said to be on the verge of a senior international call-up, was recently linked with a move Newcastle United.

However, Fernandez's presence at the game against Paris Saint-Germain has seen Barca step up their interest in the centre-back, according to Sport.

The report adds that the Catalans have been particularly attracted by Umtiti's ability to play on the left side of the defence.

It is believed that Lyon would demand at least £10m for the player.
