Southampton are considering an £8m move to sign Barcelona midfielder Alex Song, according to a report.
The 27-year-old impressed last season on a loan spell with West Ham United as he put in countless high-quality displays for the Hammers.
Ronald Koeman's men have identified Song as their primary target to replace Morgan Schneiderlin, who has been linked with moves to Manchester United and Arsenal.
The Cameroon international has been told that he can leave the Catalan club by manager Luis Enrique, but the Saints will still have to pay £8m to secure his signature, reports The People.
Song made 31 appearances for the Hammers in all competitions last season.
