Lionel Messi has revealed that he cannot wait for the World Cup to begin.

The Barcelona forward netted in Argentina's 2-0 win over Slovenia last night in what was their final warm-up game before the competition in Brazil this summer.

"The World Cup is difficult but it can happen and we have to fight for the trophy," he told AS.

"We're all very excited. Now comes the moment of truth in Brazil. Let's go."

Messi scored 41 times for Barcelona last season despite a disappointing campaign for the Spanish outfit.
