Robert Lewandowski: 'Real Madrid are favourites'

Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski places Real Madrid as "favourites" to advance from their Champions League semi-final tie.

Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski has said that while Real Madrid "are favourites" to advance from their Champions League semi-final tie, the Poland international is confident in his team's chances of progression.

Madrid, who have won the Champions League in each of the last two seasons, will take on Bayern at the Allianz Arena in the first leg of their last-four tie on Wednesday night.

Lewandowski has placed the reigning champions as the "favourites" to make the final, although the 29-year-old has insisted that Bayern "are in good shape" entering the two-legged affair.

"Real Madrid are favourites, but that does not mean they are going to beat us," Marca quotes Lewandowski as saying. "When you are a team who have won the Champions League two seasons in a row then you must go into these games as the favourites but we will not focus on that.

"We are in good shape and our most recent results have been positive and now we can think about our game with Madrid. We have to be fully concentrated, totally focused, not make mistakes and make the most of their errors and take advantage of situations."

Lewandowski has been strongly linked with a move to Madrid in recent months, but insisted last week that he was not thinking about joining the Spanish giants.
