Bayern Munich winger Franck Ribery refuses to apologise for a heavy challenge on Aruto Vidal in last night's Champions League clash with Juventus.

Bayern Munich winger Franck Ribery has insisted that he has no reason to apologise to Arturo Vidal following their clash in last night's Champions League quarter-final first leg.

Ribery and Vidal were involved in a series of heated battles for possession as Bayern took a 2-0 lead in the tie with a dominant display at the Allianz Arena.

Despite appearing to stamp on the Chilean midfielder in the closing stages, Ribery is adamant that the incident should be left on pitch.

He told Bild: "It was a duel with Vidal. I took a lot of hits and dished out some as well. In this particular situation, I challenged for the ball, but I hit his foot.

"I didn't apologise and he didn't either. That's football, that's the Champions League. It's no problem."

The pair will not clash in next week's second leg after Vidal picked up a one-match ban with a late booking in Munich.
