Former Bayern Munich defender Markus Babbel has hit out at the team's players over their role in Carlo Ancelotti's dismissal as manager, singling out Franck Ribery for criticism.
The ex-Germany international has claimed that the club's squad must shoulder their share of the blame for its recent failings, and insisted that Ribery in particular has allowed his form to dip.
"Franck Ribery has not scored a goal in the Champions League in the last two years," Sky quotes Babbel as saying.
"He still sees himself on the same level as Cristiano Ronaldo or Lionel Messi but the truth is different. The truth is when it matters, he is not there.
"It is a bit annoying for me that the whole thing is now shifted to Carlo Ancelotti. Ribery has great merits for the club and has been a fantastic player, but this position he once held is one he cannot now fulfil in my eyes."
Ancelotti won the Bundesliga title during his first season at Bayern, but was given his marching orders following a 3-0 defeat to Paris Saint-Germain in the group stage of the Champions League.
