Jerome Boateng: 'Bayern Munich want Pep Guardiola stay'

Jerome Boateng insists that the entire Bayern Munich squad want Pep Guardiola to stay on as head coach.

The whole of the Bayern Munich squad want head coach Pep Guardiola to remain at the Allianz Arena, according to defender Jerome Boateng.

The Spaniard's current contract with the Bavarians is due to expire at the end of the season.

He has been heavily linked with replacing Manuel Pellegrini at Manchester City in the summer, but Boateng has insisted that all of the Munich players want the 44-year-old to stay put.

"I'd like to see Pep stay at Bayern. The whole team wants to keep him, but at the end of the day it's his decision. We are really happy with the style of football were playing at the moment under him," the 27-year-old told Sport 360.

"He's very important to us. He's brought great influence to my game, passing and technically. He's a really excellent coach and he's great for all the players."

The centre-back joined Bayern from Man City in the summer of 2011.
