Breno given jail sentence

Former Bayern Munich defender Breno receives a prison sentence of three years and nine months after being found guilty of arson.

Former Bayern Munich defender Breno has been sentenced to three years and nine months in prison after being found guilty of arson.

The 22-year-old was arrested by police in September of last year following a fire at his house in Munich.

Having studied all the evidence, the authorities decided to charge the Brazilian with arson in April and warned him that he would face jail if he was found guilty of the crime.

With no mitigating circumstances accepted, a judge at Munich District Court earlier today decided that a prison sentence was the only possible punishment.

Bayern released the centre-back earlier this year.
