Team News: Mario Gotze starts as false nine for Bayern Munich

Both Mario Gotze and Thiago Alcantara start for Bayern Munich.

Bayern Munich coach Pep Guardiola has named Mario Gotze as his side's lone forward for the home clash against bottom side Eintracht Braunschweig.

It means that Mario Mandzukic drops to the bench with Thomas Muller and Arjen Robben operating on either flank. With Philipp Lahm missing, Rafinha starts at right-back and there is also a start for Thiago Alcantara.

For the hosts, Dominick Kumbela continues up front, although there is a start on the left wing for Simeon Jackson.

Bayern: Neuer; Rafinha, Dante, Van Buyten, Alaba; Martinez, Kroos, Muller, Thiago, Robben; Gotze

Braunschweig: Davari; Elabdellaoui, Bicakcic, Dogan, Theuerkauf; Kratz, Caligiuri, Boland; Bellarabi, Jackson; Kumbela
