Salva Sevilla blames players for Pepe Mel departure

Real Betis midfielder Salva Sevilla blames his teammates for the recent departure of boss Pepe Mel.

Real Betis midfielder Salva Sevilla has blamed his teammates for the recent departure of Pepe Mel.

Mel was relieved of his managerial duties last week following a poor start to the season, but Sevilla believes that the players should be criticised rather than their former boss.

"It is not nice because nobody likes to be in these situations," Sevilla told reporters at a press conference.

"If a coach is going, it is because the players have not done well. We are the biggest culprits for what has happened. Hopefully things can improve and the team reacts."

Juan Carlos Garrido replaced Mel at the helm.
