Birmingham City 'given permission to hold talks with Burton Albion's Gary Rowett'

Burton Albion reportedly give Birmingham City permission to hold talks with their manager Gary Rowett following Lee Clark's dismissal.

Birmingham City have reportedly opened talks with Burton Albion boss Gary Rowett about possibly appointing him as the Championship club's new manager.

The Blues are in the hunt for a new coach after sacking Lee Clark on Monday after overseeing just two wins in 13 league matches.

Rowett was named as one of the frontrunners for the vacancy earlier this week, and according to BBC Sport, Burton Albion have given Birmingham permission to speak to their coach.

It is believed that the Blues are keen to have a new manager in place for their clash against Wolverhampton Wanderers on November 1.

Former Wigan Athletic boss Owen Coyle and ex-Manchester United assistant manager Mike Phelan have also been linked to the role.
