Gary Rowett urges Demarai Gray to improve in front of goal

Birmingham City manager Gary Rowett challenges Demarai Gray to improve his finishing after the teenager's equaliser in the 2-2 draw with Blackburn Rovers.

Birmingham City manager Gary Rowett has insisted that there is more to come from Demarai Gray following his display in Tuesday's 2-2 draw with Blackburn Rovers.

Gray, who has been repeatedly linked with Championship leaders Bournemouth in recent months, scored a late equaliser to earn the hosts a point at St Andrew's, but Rowett believes that the 18-year-old must be more clinical in front of goal.

"I think that Demi should have scored more. We have spoken to him about it. I think he needs to hit the target more when he shoots," the Birmingham boss told reporters. "He is learning to get into those areas. He has to get in positions where if anything falls for him he has to finish it.

"He needs to score those scruffier and scrappier goals on the back post.

"He is 18 and he is learning. We have got to be patient with him but I think he has had an excellent, excellent season and he has had to cope with an awful lot as well."

Gray has scored six goals in 37 Championship appearances this season.
