Birmingham City manager Gary Rowett is trying to see the positives after admitting that Demarai Gray is likely to be sold this month.
Multiple reports claim that Premier League high-flyers Leicester City have matched a £3.75m release clause to poach the 19-year-old.
Gray was left out of Birmingham's squad for yesterday's 2-1 Championship victory over Brentford, and after the match Rowett said that the club now had to use the incoming money wisely.
"One Premier League club met the amount required and Demarai requested permission to speak to that club," Rowett told reporters.
"Should the move go through I wish him all the best. He is an ambitious young player but we have shown that we have had two games without him and done well.
"The club have done all the right things and now we will have funds to strengthen the team. We can now move the team in a different direction and use the money wisely."
Gray could be loaned back to Birmingham for the rest of the season as part of the deal.
