Gary Bowyer says that he is unsure whether he will be in charge of Blackburn Rovers until the end of the season.

Blackburn Rovers caretaker manager Gary Bowyer has admitted that he is in the dark over how long he will be in charge of the first team.

The 41-year-old was named as temporary boss for the second time this season following the dismissal of Michael Appleton after just 67 days at Ewood Park.

The Championship club announced that Bowyer would take control until the end of the season, but the caretaker boss is not ruling out a new manager being appointed before May.

"The board asked me to look after it for now," Bowyer told BBC Radio Lancashire.

"They've announced that it's until the end of the season, but I was supposed to be looking after it for the whole of January and that only lasted a week. We'll just treat it game by game, starting with Blackpool at home on Friday."

Bowyer took charge of the team following Henning Berg's sacking in December, but was replaced eight days later by Appleton.
