Mark Hughes will reportedly turn down the Blackburn Rovers managerial job following the club's refusal to offer the Welshman certain assurances.

Mark Hughes is reportedly expected to turn down a chance to succeed Steve Kean as Blackburn Rovers manager.

The 48-year-old, who coached Rovers for four years, has been tipped to replace the under-fire Scotsman and make a return to his former club.

The Lancashire club is unwilling to meet Hughes's assurances and Kean is expected to keep his job over the Christmas period, according to The Mirror.

Kean has suffered months of abuse from the Rovers supporters, who have expressed their discontent at only two wins in 17 games.
