Blackburn Rovers Action Group expresses its delight at manager Steve Kean's departure.

A leading Blackburn Rovers fan group has expressed its delight at being "liberated" from Steve Kean.

Kean resigned as manager earlier today after claiming that his position at the club had become untenable.

Many Rovers fans have been yearning for the 44-year-old's exit ever since he took over in December 2010, and Blackburn Rovers Action Group secretary Mark Fish believes that thousands of fans' boycotting matches was the straw that broke the camel's back.

"I am delighted. It's been a long 12 months for all involved, and I never thought I'd see the day when he went," said Fish.

"The supporters are liberated and free of Steve Kean. I am just enjoying the fact that he has gone.

"He has treated the supporters with contempt. We've got 8,000, 9,000 boycotting and empty seats are one thing he can't mask. I have longed for this."

Kean was in charge of Blackburn for 74 matches, winning 21, drawing 16 and losing 37.
