Preview: Blackburn Rovers vs. Bournemouth

Sports Mole gazes ahead to the Championship encounter between Blackburn Rovers and Bournemouth on Wednesday night.

Two Championship sides in contrasting recent form go head to head at Ewood Park on Wednesday night as Blackburn Rovers face Bournemouth.

Rovers' playoff push has stuttered after two straight losses and Gary Bowyer will view tomorrow's game as must-win if they are to maintain realistic hopes of finishing in the top six.

Sunday's defeat to East Lancashire rivals Burnley will have especially hurt as they threw away a 1-0 lead by conceding two quick goals in the second half.

One positive from that game was Jordan Rhodes's return to the scoresheet after the longest barren spell of his career at eight games.

Rhodes will again lead the line tomorrow but could be joined by Rudy Gestede after the latter was relegated to the bench against Burnley on Sunday.

Visitors Bournemouth, on the other hand, have won their last two games to move well clear of the relegation battle, setting their sights on a top-half finish.

Eddie Howe could bring back Yann Kermorgant to partner Lewis Grabban up front after he missed out on Saturday's victory at Blackpool, with Brett Pitman set to drop out.

The reverse fixture back in September went Blackburn's way, with Rhodes scoring a brace in a 3-1 win.
