Alessandro Diamanti stamps his authority on a routine 3-0 home victory for Bologna over mid-table rivals Cagliari.

Bologna have recorded a 3-0 victory over Cagliari this afternoon to ease any lingering fears of relegation from Serie A.

Alessandro Diamanti was in inspired form and created the opening goal, playing through Sliti Taider to hammer in after five minutes.

The Italian international put Bologna in total control before the break with a brilliant curling finish from an acute angle.

Francesco Pisano extinguished any hopes of a Cagliari comeback early in the second half when he was sent off for a two-footed lunge on Archimede Morleo.

Bologna controlled the closing stages and scored their third goal through Cristian Pasquato in injury time to secure the three points that move them above Cagliari into mid-table safety.
