Sam Ricketts: Bolton "not good enough"

Sam Ricketts admits that Bolton weren't good enough over the course of the season to survive relegation.

Bolton Wanderers defender Sam Ricketts has said that the club weren't good enough over the course of the season to survive relegation.

Ricketts, who returned from the sidelines in late December, claims that The Trotters improved over the second half of the season. However, he admits that the club should have avoided giving themselves a huge mountain to climb in the first place.

"Looking back over the season we've not been good enough," he told The Bolton News.

"We gave ourselves a huge mountain to climb. The second half of the season has been decent, but we let ourselves down and we never recovered.

"It's down to us as a club to take a good look at ourselves. That's the attitude we've got to have now."

Bolton, who finished in 18th place, were relegated along with Blackburn Rovers and Wolverhampton Wanderers.
