Dougie Freedman rules out Crystal Palace raid

New Bolton Wanderers boss Dougie Freedman insists that he is happy with the state of his current squad.

New Bolton Wanderers boss Dougie Freedman has insisted that he will not return to former club Crystal Palace in search of new players.

The Scot departed Palace last week to take the managerial post at Bolton, but it has been suggested that he will target a host of his former players.

Wilfried Zaha, regarded as one of the best players in the Championship, has been the name most mentioned, but Freedman has quelled claims of a move for the talented winger.

"Not as we speak right now. We have got a fantastic group of players at Bolton, strength in depth, and I don't need to look anywhere other than my own training ground," he told Sky Sports News.

"I've left Palace with wonderful young players in the team. They've done very well and I believe they should stay at Crystal Palace right now and keep doing what they're doing.

"I feel we've got the right squad of players, and once I go in and change the mentality of the group I believe we can climb the table. I don't feel ashamed or embarrassed to say promotion is something we're looking to do this year."

Bolton currently occupy 18th in the Championship table.
