Borussia Dortmund team bus caught up in explosion

Reports of an explosion near Borussia Dortmund's team bus circulate ahead of their Champions League fixture.

Borussia Dortmund's team bus has been caught up in an explosion ahead of tonight's match against AS Monaco.

Spanish defender Marc Bartra was wounded in the blast and taken to hospital as a result.

Germany's Sky claims that Bartra's injuries are "superficial", but specific details about his condition are yet to be divulged.

Local police and Dortmund's official Twitter account confirmed the news, noting that the explosion occurred near the team hotel.

A translated tweet read: "Bomb explosion on the team bus at the team hotel. Player in security. No danger in the and at the stadium. More information to follow."

German newspaper Bild reports that the incident occurred approximately 10km from the stadium, with the blast shattering the vehicle's windows.

The local police have issued a statement on social media confirming that they have placed "strong forces on the ground" in response to the incident, but adding that "the situation is still unclear".

The cause of the explosion is yet to be confirmed.

Fans remained in the stadium after the news broke, before Dortmund confirmed that the fixture has been postponed until Wednesday evening.
