Robert Lewandowski pleased with Werder Bremen win

Robert Lewandowski is pleased with Borussia Dortmund's win over Werder Bremen, but hopes for an improvement in performance.

Borussia Dortmund striker Robert Lewandowski has revealed that he was pleased with his side's 1-0 win over Werder Bremen on Friday night, but warned that they can play a lot better.

Lewandowski said that Werder were a good team so a win at all is a good result and has targeted a more successful season than last in which Dortmund were beaten to both the Bundesliga and Champions League by rivals Bayern Munich.

"I think [it was a deserved win]," he told the club's official website. "Werder Bremen are a very good side, which is why it was a very difficult game for me and the rest of the team.

"Therefore, I´m happy about the three points and of course my goal. Our performance was okay, though I think we can play better. But nine points from three games is good.

"This is my fourth season with BVB and I hope that it will be even better than the last one."

Lewandowski is widely expected to join Bayern next season upon the expiry of his contract.
