Former Tottenham Hotspur manager Andre Villas-Boas is said to have emerged as a frontrunner to replace Peter Stoger at Borussia Dortmund.

Former Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur manager Andre Villas-Boas has emerged as a contender to take over at Borussia Dortmund at the end of the season.

The German outfit are expected to part company with head coach Peter Stoger this summer and, according to Goal.com, the 40-year-old is among the frontrunners to replace him.

The report states that Villas-Boas may have eclipsed Nice boss Lucien Favre as the favourite for the post as Dortmund would not have to pay a release clause to recruit him.

Villas-Boas is currently out of work, having parted company with Chinese Super League side Shanghai SIPG last year.

Stoger's contract with the club expires this summer and is not expected to be renewed due to Dortmund's erratic form during the second half of the season.
