Goalkeeper David James is training with Bournemouth ahead of a possible move to the League One club.

Bournemouth manager Paul Groves has insisted that a deal will have to be right for both parties if David James is to sign for the club.

The 42-year-old has been training with the League One club and although Groves has heaped praise on the former England goalkeeper, he has insisted that it is not certain that James will sign for the Cherries.

Groves told BBC Radio Solent: "David brings professionalism, experience, competition and he is a fantastic person to have around the club.

"I've worked with him before and knew what he could bring to the party and that was a big ingredient of bringing him in.

"David is his own man and he will not just join a club for the sake of joining them. He wants things to be done properly and things will have to be correct for David otherwise he won't sign."

The former Manchester City, West Ham United and Portsmouth goalkeeper has been without a club since he was released by Bristol City during the summer.
